VISION

Healthy, educated families equipped to build flourishing cultural communities for themselves and future generations.

MISSION

Sigay Kauyagan facilitates applied education, promotes holistic family health and trains in restorative organic Agri-development among vulnerable cultural communities in Mindanao.

Sigay Kauyagan, a local Philippine non-profit organization, has a mission to facilitate education, health, community development, agri-development and values-based livelihood programs among the cultural communities of Southern Mindanao. Our mission is accomplished through mentoring and education programs such as university based tutorial programs, values camps and classes, organic farming and reforestation programs, animal husbandry, livelihood projects among women, literacy efforts, and community health interventions.

We began in 1998 when Mindanao State University invited our initial small group to help tutor students. Since that time Sigay has expanded into additional areas of community development including: a tutorial center on MSU’s General Santos campus, a farm in Tupi that is used for on the job training of students and partnership with local farmers, free medical clinics in difficult-access areas, public health training, youth after school tutorial, community sports, and community livelihood projects.

Sigay Kauyagan is composed of a team of international volunteer staff members. There are many interns who regularly cycle through the organization as part of their on-the-job training or international internship, providing assistance where needed. All team members, however long their duration, seek to partner with cultural communities to see people empowered, educated, healthy, and flourishing.
